An Important Favor To Ask

When I first began this blog it was my purpose to bring American politics and social issues into the homes of the average American. Since then I’ve written about issues and concerns that I have. Now I want to focus more on the concerns of my readers in order to bring you the information (and hopefully some solutions) that you are honestly interested in.

All I ask is for some simple information from you. Just click on the link below and answer the eight short survey questions and click the button at the bottom of the page. The survey is a pop-up window so you will have to shut off blockers or click to allow the survey to show.

Thank you for your participation

]This Month At Lend A Hand

This month we’re going to be talking about something that is a very hot topic for me – illegal immigration. Please, please note that I said Illegal Immigration. I support immigration and welcome new people and cultures into America. Immigration brings skilled, intelligent people with all the gifts they can bring into our society.

My wonderful spouse immigrated here from England with his family when he was twelve. He was naturalized (became a citizen) on January 13th 2006 between 11am and 12pm. I’ll even concede that there are illegal immigrants just trying to live a better life and provide more opportunities for their kids. They try to follow the rules, stay out of trouble and just live their lives in pursuit of the American Dream. I still believe that since they broke the law they should be punished but I can sympathize.

Other illegal immigrants are parasites on society. They take advantage of a weakly guarded border to sneak into our country to corrupt, commit crimes, and generally doing all they can to weaken our country’s already floundering foundation. To sum up my opinion: A crime is a crime is a crime.

Loss Of Wildlife Land, Waters, And Homes

Once upon a time the world was a sprawling carpet of green and brown and blue. Trees died of old age and people believed that there was no way to run out of land to build on, water to drink, or homes for wild animals.

Now the earth is dealing with overpopulation, ignorance, and greed. Poverty affects nearly 50% of the world’s population while people in other parts of the world waste truckloads of food, water, medicine and fuel. Most importantly it doesn’t have to be this way. All we need is more people to speak up for those who can’t. Especially here in America where there is so much to go around, there is no excuse for anyone to have to live in poverty.

As more people fill the earth there is less room for the other animals with whom we share the planet. Every day an average of 35 species become extinct – gone, never coming back. Again, animals can’t speak up for themselves so it is our duty to speak (and fight) for them.

Every generation has great humanitarians, catalysts for change, heroes. During our time it is crucial to make extraordinary action commonplace; changing the world all in a day’s work.
